Il Partito Socialista Siciliano saluta con favore la vittoria del compagno Jeremy Corbin alle elezioni per la leardership laburista in Gran Bretagna. Iscritti nonché sostenitori associati e registrati del Labour Party hanno decretato la vittoria di Corbyn, deputato del collegio londinese di Islington North, con quasi il 60% dei suffragi. Il nuovo leader del Partito Laburista ha vinto su una posizione in linea con la tradizione socialdemocratica europea, a cui il Partito Laburista britannico ha storicamente contribuito in modo significativo. Le idee di Corbyn sulla necessità di un’alternativa socialista alle politiche di austerità imposte dal neo-liberismo e di nuove politiche per la redistribuzione del reddito sono del tutto condivide dai socialisti siciliani. Il Partito Socialista Siciliano auspica pertanto che, attraverso la guida del compagno Jeremy Corbyn, il Labour Party possa riprendere quel ruolo centrale che ha avuto nell’Internazionale Socialista, tornando ad esserne membro a pieno titolo, dopo gli errori delle ultime leadership laburiste, le quali avevano degradato lo status dei laburisti britannici a quello di meri osservatori nella famiglia del socialismo democratico internazionale, che peraltro lo stesso Partito Laburista aveva contribuito a riorganizzare nel 1951.
The Sicilian Socialist Party greets the victory of Comrade Jeremy Corbin at Labour Party leadership election, in the United Kingdom. Full members and associated or registered supporters of the Labour Party gave the first place to Corbyn, MP for Islington North constituency in London, with almost 60% of the votes. The new leader of the Labour Party won thanks to a position in line with the European social democratic tradition, to which the British Labour Party has historically contributed significantly. Corbyn’s ideas on the need for a socialist alternative to the austerity policies imposed by neo-liberism and for new politics of income redistribution are entirely shared by Sicilians socialists. Therefore, the Sicilian Socialist Party hopes that, through the leadership of Comrade Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party will take again the central role it has had within the Socialist international, going back to being a full member, after the mistakes of the previous Labour leaders, who had downgraded the status of British Labour to that of a mere observer in the family of the interntional democratic socialism, which the Labour Party had helped to reorganize in 1951.
